BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Student Tuition Fund
Carole Shakespeare Hulet
Founder, President
Carole created Student Tuition Fund as a way of recognizing and helping students who are providing awesome volunteer service within their respective communities. Having taught and advised University students for many years, Carole is very passionate about and understands the value of education! Being inspired by Grandmother Montrue Larkin, Carole is a big proponent of community service and sees the “win, win” that happens when students get involved in passion projects and serve within their schools or communities.
Away from her home office, Carole can be seen picking up trash along her neighborhood streets or organizing something (but don’t ask her to cook!). She is especially happy when snuggling a “grandchild”!
“Being in charge of Being in charge” is something Carole does well! She enjoys people, connecting with others and promoting good causes. Student Tuition Fund allows Carole to utilize her talents in helping both students and community!
Carole holds a Master of Science in Education degree from Utah State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Southern Utah University.
Brent Larkin Shakespeare
Board Member
Brent Skips to work each day as the local Branch Manager for “Raymond James” where he helps his clients solve any financial problem from “How do we get loved ones educated” to “all facets of retirement planning”. He loves that there are rarely dull moments when it comes to money! Brent’s often accused of being “the nicest guy you’ll ever meet” by his clients (and everyone else who knows him)!
Away from his desk, Brent loves spending time with his family and any reason to ski (winter or summer). He is happiest when serving God and others!
Brent should have bought stock in mint chocolate chip ice cream and peanut butter cups!
Involvement in Student Tuition Fund honors Brent’s ever charitable spirit, passed down from Grandmother Montrue Larkin, and gratitude for education.
Brent holds a Master of Science degree in Business from Northwest Nazarene University, a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration degree from Southern Utah University and a Public Administration Certificate from Southern Utah University.
Barbara Larkin Shakespeare (aka: Gramzie)
Board Member
Is a Retired educator and somewhat of a local celebrity (at least her extended family thinks so!)
Known for her love of students, teaching expertise, excellent public speaking skills, publications, funeral speech writing, listening ear and civic service; Barbara has been a tremendous asset within her various communities.
Don’t be fooled by the white hair; Barbara still has a tremendous amount of energy and can be seen buzzing around the country side in her green Toyota (which just so happens to look exactly like her husband’s).
Barbara is the glue of her entire extended family, enjoys travel to exotic locals or simply spending time on her fantastic patio. Her favorite spot just happens to be in her recliner with a good book in hand!
Just like her mother Montrue Larkin, Barbara’s spirit of community involvement and “giving” has blessed the lives of countless others both at home and abroad, so often behind the scenes. Student Tuition Fund is yet another way Barbara is promoting education and “giving back” to community and students!
Barbara earned an Associate of Science degree at Dixie Jr. College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Brigham Young University.
Montrue Grey Larkin
Honorary Board Member
Was a local “icon” and now a legend of the greater St. George Community she so loved and served!
Revered as an educator, advocate, mentor, teacher, counselor and champion of people and causes; Montrue not only improved her community through civic involvement but also left a legacy of “can do”, “fortitude” and “grit” in the heart of those who knew her.
Montrue served as the first female “St. George Chamber of Commerce President” and was responsible for the beloved gazebo in the St. George Worthen park. She served on too many boards to list and received just as many awards including the 1999 “St. George Chamber of Commerce Humanitarian Award” in celebration to her lifelong service to others which hangs in the Student Tuition Fund Inc. office today as a reminder that COMMUNITY SERVICE MATTERS!
Having been “bit by the travel bug”, Monture was continually traversing the earth, even at a times when airplane hijacking was quite prevalent. A friend once said “surely you aren’t going to travel at this dangerous time” and to that Montrue replied “Of course I am! If the plane gets hi-jacked, I hope they take me somewhere I haven’t been yet!”
Montrue was well known on the Dixie Jr. College Campus for her service to students as a Bookstore Manager and guidance counselor. She was a listener of great compassion and was often sought out by students, faculty and staff for help and advice. She wanted her children, grandchildren and all the students whose lives she touched to ‘have wings to fly’. She knew that education would give them those wings. Montrue certainly used her own wings to enrich the lives of everyone she met!
Student Tuition Fund is a result of her influence for reaching even higher and continued community involvement through service!
